USO of NC, Executive Staff

President – John Falkenbury became President and COO for the USO of NC in March 2009. He is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the operations of the state headquarters and the four USO centers in the areas in and surrounding Jacksonville, Charlotte, Fayetteville, and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. John, a 3rd generation career military officer, served 20 years in the US Army. When the opportunity presented itself to return to serving with Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and Guardsmen through the USO of NC, he jumped at the opportunity. With our military challenged through multiple combat rotations, they need advocates to provide services for our men and women, and their family members.

Vice President – Sheila Waskow joined the USO of NC in 2008. She is a self proclaimed Army Brat, an Air Force Mom and an Air Force Wife. Sheila and her husband returned home to North Carolina after his retirement from the USAF. She has spent the better part of the last three decades supporting our Nation's military and their families. She began her career in family services and support working for the Army in Europe, and eventually completed assignments with the Air Force and the Navy in Europe, Asia and the continental US. She has a unique understanding of the challenges facing our service members and their immediate and extended family, and is committed to the mission of the USO of NC "Supporting America's Military". She considers it a true honor to be working for such a great organization and to, once again, be in a position to not only support our service members but to share the passion of the hundreds of USO of NC volunteers. USO of NC, State Office Staff

Executive Assistant - Katie Kassa, a Camp Lejeune native, joined the USO of NC team in 2008. The daughter of two career Marines, she has a personal understanding of the military lifestyle and needs. Katie feels greatly privileged to be able to help our troops and their families through her work with the USO of NC.

Special Events Director: Teresa Cherry joined the USO North Carolina team in August 2011 as the Special Events Director. She hails from Montesano, Washington, and is a retired Naval Officer. Teresa understands the military life and is ready to go the extra mile to ensure the troops and their families are supported and not forgotten. She spent two years as the center director at the first USO in Iraq and experienced first hand the sacrifices of the troops and their families. Teresa is excited to be a member of the USO North Carolina team.

Financial Manager - Ellice (Lee) Beard joined the USO of NC in November 2006 on a temporary basis as Financial Manager and accepted the permanent position in May of 2007. Lee moved to Jacksonville in 1970 when her father, a Navy Chaplain was based at Camp Lejeune and her son-in-law is an active duty Marine, so she has strong ties connecting her to the military community. Lee is excited to have witnessed the continued growth of the USO of NC over the past several years and feels it is an extreme honor to serve our military in any capacity.

USO of NC, Jacksonville Center Staff
|
Jacksonville Center Director – Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Deb Fisher was Executive Director the USO of Northern Ohio for 5 years. She was elected to serve on the USO Affiliate Council; an advisory council of Charter USO Centers. In August 2010, USO of NC Jacksonville brought Deb on as Interim Director while they conducted a search for a permanent Director. Deb was offered and then accepted the permanent Director’s position in December 2010.

| Jacksonville Center Assistant Director – Marisa Reeder joined the USO of NC, Jacksonville Center in November of 2010 as the Center Coordinator and took over as Assistant Director in August 2011. While her husband was stationed in Twentynine Palms she gained non-profit experience working for the Armed Services YMCA as their Special Event/Volunteer Coordinator. She knows first-hand what it is like to be a military spouse and the challenges that they face with continuous deployments. Marisa has a passion for helping service members and their families and is honored to have the opportunity to give back to them after they have given so much for us. |

USO of NC, Raleigh-Durham International Airport Center Staff

RDU Center Director – Connie Inggs joined USO of North Carolina in August of 2010. Connie has over 20 plus years experience in the tourism/travel/hospitality industry. She worked with the NC and SC military bases in promoting Charlotte as a motorsports destination. She has also worked with chaplains on bases and base Information, Travel and Tourism (ITT) offices on various regional promotions for our troops and their families. Connie has deep ties in the Raleigh community where she and her husband, along with their twin daughters, lived for many years before relocating to the Charlotte area.

RDU Center Assistant Director – Patricia DeZetter is a June 2010 addition to the USO of North Carolina Team. After working 8 years in Military Clubs with the Air Force both in Germany and Miami, she spent 8 months learning and working with a non-profit organization in her hometown of Chicago. The opportunity to actively support the military once again and move to warmer weather led her to relocate to North Carolina. Patricia feels it is an honor and a privilege to be selected to serve and support America’s Military and their families.

USO of NC, Charlotte Douglas International Airport Center Staff

Charlotte Center Director - Megan Grady is a 2006 addition to the USO of NC team. After relocating from the Washington, DC metro area to Charlotte, she joined the USO of NC and helped open the Charlotte Center. The daughter of a retired soldier, with a brother currently serving in the Army, Megan has a profound appreciation of our troops and their contributions, and a strong understanding of their families and their sacrifices.

USO of NC, Fort Bragg Center Staff
|
Fort Bragg Center Director - Renee Lane joined the USO of North Carolina in June 2010 as the Fort Bragg Center Director. She has experience as an Army spouse and has actively participated in Family Readiness Groups at Fort Bragg for the past 17 years. Renee's professional experience encompasses over 25 years of marketing and public relations in the public and private sector. She is excited to serve the Fort Bragg community in a new capacity and provide USO of NC support and services to military members and their families.

Fort Bragg Center Assistant Director - Beverly Jackson joined the USO of NC in May 2010 after a year and a half with the USO in Southwest Asia, serving on bases in Qatar and Iraq. She is newly married to a soldier currently serving at Fort Bragg. After seeing first-hand the sacrifices that are made by our deployed troops, Bev is excited to now be able to use those experiences to better serve the military families in North Carolina.

USO of NC, Mobile Unit Staff

| Mobile Unit Coordinator – Bob Brown served for 6 years in the United States Marine Corps in Southeast Asia. While serving, he has such good experiences with the USO that he always wanted to give back in some way. Bob became a USO of NC volunteer at the RDU Center working both in the center and at special events. In August of 2011, he accept the Mobile Unit Coordinator position. His business experience in planning and executing special events, public relations and business development add a valuable dimension to the USO of NC and Mobile Unit operations. |
