The Carolina Hurricanes and the USO of North Carolina have teamed up to offer you a great opportunity to see a Hurricanes game at a discounted rate and give back to the USO of NC. The First Thursday of each month family members of deployed service members can come in and activate a Smiles Over Miles video messaging account. Once the account has been activated, families will be able to send video, audio, and text messages to their deployed loved ones from any computer with a webcam! We also record DVD messages and ship them to the deployed service member. While you wait, we have a kids' room for all ages and FREE pizza is provided by our friends at Pizza Hut! Commemorating its long history of support to the USO, Wilmington is celebrating the USO of North Carolina's 70th Anniversary with two events in historic downtown Wilmington which wrap up the state's year long observance on Saturday, March 31. TO celebrate the vital role of the family in the strength of the military and to celebrate Wilmington's vital role in the history of the U.S. military, the city presents a Marriage Vow Renewal Ceremony aboard the USS North Carolina and, later the same day, a Gala Recption and Dance at the Hannah Block USO Building. More than 216,000 North Carolina residents served in Vietnam, and some 1,600 made the ultimate sacrifice in that war. Now, the USO of North Carolina and Charlotte Motor Speedway, with support from the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters, will honor their service with an incredible Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration on March 31 for the military members and their friends and families.
Vietnam veterans never received the type of homecoming celebration that today's troops receive as they return from service. To honor those who served and the military members who returned from combat, the USO of North Carolina is holding a long, overdue homecoming celebration. Hosted by the USO of North Carolina and Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration 2012 is set to be an unforgettable experience featuring live entertainment, displays and demonstrations, military salutes, and much more!
Veteran Service Organizations will be on-site to assist veterans. Please bring your DD Form 214 so they can help, if needed.

In 2010 and 2011, Lowes, Charlotte Motor Speedway and the USO of NC served over 400 military and their families a traditional Thanksgiving Feast at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Guests were also invited to experience Carolina Christmas, the track's Christmas drive through light show. |
